When it comes to dodgem cars, there are essentialy two types of dodgems available to hire, the traditional Bumper cars or the modern Continental dodgems or Auto–skooter as they are sometimes reffered to.
Whichever type you choose, the principle of operation is the same: using a conductive floor and ceiling, each with a separate power polarity. Contacts under the vehicle touch the floor while a pole mounted contact touches the ceiling, forming a complete circuit.

The Traditional Dodgem Car

A traditional set of Dodgem Cars The traditional dodgem has been in use since the 1920's and is built up, piece by piece, and although more labour intensive and time consuming, it's nature means that it can be built up in places where access by an articulated lorry is not possible.

Steering of the dodgem car is by use of a steering wheel and an accelarator pedal, each track can take upto 20 individual Dodgem cars seating 2 people on average.

Traditional dodgems of this type have been successfully built up indoors, and inside courtyards, as the parts can be carried with ease. The size of such dodgem car tracks can vary, but on average the drive area is about 60 foot by 40 foot to a maximum of 80 foot by 40 foot and is oval in shape.

Continental Dodgems / Auto-Skooter

A Continental set of Dodgem Cars, featuring plenty of decoration and lighting The modern continental track, has been gradually becoming more popular with the fun fair industry. It is mainly transported on an articulated trailer with a seperate truck for the cars, however the ride builds up from the self contained trailer, cutting down manual handling and time. Which means they can be built up and open in a lot shorter time, and packed up down and gone with the minimum of fuss. This type of dodgem features facades on all sides, usually featuring images of motor racing, and is highly illuminated. The drive area for this type of track is around 20 metres by 11 metres.

Pricing for the hire of our dodgems is competitive, and includes transport, erection, operation and dismantling of the ride, staffing, and provision of all legal paperwork.
